New York University required a cutting-edge LED solution to create an advanced studio environment for their students and faculty. This space needed to function as both a high-fidelity broadcast backdrop for educational content and a fully immersive virtual production classroom. PIXREAL supplied a 12-metre by 3.5-metre volume using the Avatar 2.3 panel, a product engineered to the gold standard for xR and virtual production. The Avatar 2.3 is a dedicated in-camera LED solution designed specifically for studio and film environments.
We focused on providing the technical excellence necessary for both broadcast and educational virtual production:
- Exceptional In-Camera Performance: The display has an ultra-high refresh rate of up to 15,360Hz and 16-Bit Grayscale , ensuring a fluid, scanline-free capture, whether filming a close-up or a wide shot. This means students can see lifelike detail and smoother motion capture for film.
- Precision Colour and Light: The Avatar Series is HDR Supported, which supports richer contrast, vibrant colours, and lifelike details. Furthermore, its top-grade calibration ensures a consistent colour gamut across wide viewing angles, providing creative freedom for camera movement.
- Built for Ease of Use: In an educational setting where products are used by many people, usability is one of our core values. The modular design of the Avatar makes maintenance easy and efficient, reducing downtime for busy university schedule.
